CPSC Ancheer e-bike recall

E-bike manufacturer, Ancheer, is announcing a recall of about 22,000 electric bikes, model AM001907. The company and the Consumer Product Safety Commision state that the recall is due to the lithium-ion batteries causing spontaneous sparks, fires, or explosions. The e-bikes are sold primarily online by e-commerce sites including Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Sears, Wish, Rakuten, Overstock, Aliexpress, Ancheer and Newegg.

Ancheer has received six reports of incidents involving fire, explosions, or sparks, including four reports of burn injuries. Confirmation of the specific model number of the e-bike is found on the packaging and instruction manual but not specifically on the bike itself.

AM001907 has a cylinder-shaped battery that looks like a water bottle. The bike is all black, with 26” wheels and Ancheer written down the frame. The bikes were sold through various online stores between January 2016 and June 2022. The bikes retailed from $280 to $930.

CPSC and Ancheer are advising all consumers to stop using the bike immediately, remove the battery, and store the battery in a cool, dry space.

The e-bikes were made in China and distributed by Shenzhen Sailvan Network Technology Ltd. d/b/a Ancheer, of China.
